Eléctrico confirmed their good form and, after defeating Benfica in the last round, surprised again, this time with a 2-2 draw against Sporting (2-2). The lions stumbled for the second game in a row and saw Braga isolating themselves at the top of the championship.
Ponte de Sor team opened the scoring after just six minutes, thanks to Tiago Cruz, who found himself alone in the area and deflected a throw-in from Célio Coque in the best way possible. The response came through Taynan in the 12th minute, also in reaction to a throw-in, this time taken by Alex Merlin.
Closing a hard-fought first half marked by a great performance from Diogo Basílio. Who thwarted all of the Lions’ attempts, Célio Coque gave Eléctrico the lead back with a strong shot. However, the advantage did not last. This is because, in the 19th minute, Tomás Paçó restored equality on the scoreboard.
In the second half, the game was practically one-way, but a combination of a lack of Leonine marksmanship and a lot of defensive competence from Eléctrico—highlighted once again by Diogo Basílio—did not allow for a new change in the score. At a time of everything for everything, the expulsion of Alex Merlin prevented Sporting’s final reaction, which was also unable to bet on five to four.
With this draw, Sporting remains in second place, now two points behind Braga, the new isolated leader of the Liga Placard Futsal. Eléctrico maintained eighth place, with 16 points.
