LVP Superliga Winter 2025 Launches with Mixed Reception
Spain’s premier League of Legends competition, the LVP Superliga, commenced its Winter 2025 season on January 14th with a series of five matches that demonstrated both the league’s enduring appeal and some unexpected challenges.
The 2025 season introduces a significant structural change to the EMEA Masters ecosystem, with Riot Games implementing a three-split format that adds a Winter split to the traditional Spring and Summer schedule. The league’s competitive landscape has seen minor adjustments. Welcoming Veni Vidi Vici through promotion and ZETA stepping in to fill the vacancy left by Rebels Gaming’s departure from professional League of Legends.
Opening day viewership statistics revealed interesting trends, with the broadcast reaching a peak of 35,719 concurrent viewers. Marking a notable decrease from the previous year’s Spring split debut. The day’s highlight came from the closely contested battle between UCAM Esports Club and KOI Academy, with UCAM emerging victorious after an extended 37-minute engagement.
The viewership dynamics were significantly impacted by the absence of prominent community figure and KOI co-owner Ibai Llanos, who was taking a brief hiatus following his involvement with the Kings World Cup Nations 2025. While KOI Content Creator Kuentin’s coverage helped maintain interest, peaking at 9,394 viewers during the KOI Academy match. The overall numbers on the official Lvpes channel showed a marked decline compared to the previous season.
Despite these initial viewership challenges, the competition continues with a packed schedule. As teams prepare for multiple matchups during the opening week from January 15th through January 17th. Each organization will face three different opponents during this period, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense start to the Winter split.
