Red Bull League of Its Own 2024: T1 Meets Europe’s Finest in Paris Showdown

In a thrilling showcase of international League of Legends talent, the Red Bull League of Its Own 2024 brought together Korean powerhouse T1 and Europe’s finest teams at Paris’s iconic Accor Arena on December 15th. The venue, which previously hosted the 2019 LoL World Championship Finals, provided a fitting backdrop for this unique invitational tournament.

The event achieved remarkable viewership numbers, peaking at 603,000 concurrent viewers during the highly anticipated matchup between T1 and Los Ratones, a new team founded by former professional player and caster Caedrel. Over its 10-hour runtime, the tournament garnered 4.4 million hours watched and maintained an average viewership of 453,000.

T1’s participation added an intriguing twist to the competition, with the team’s legendary mid-laner Faker experimenting in various roles including support and top lane. Despite featuring in the three most-watched matches of the day, T1 found victory elusive in these encounters. However, the team did secure two wins when paired with European star Rekkles, who temporarily joined forces with his former T1 Academy colleagues against G2 Esports and Karmine Corp.

The tournament’s format included both team matches and solo showdowns, creating an engaging mix of competitive play. In the solo matches, European talents Saken, Alderiate, and Tiky emerged victorious against their opponents Caliste, Doran, and Caps respectively. A particularly notable match between Karmine Corp and G2 Esports – the only game without T1’s participation – drew nearly 520,000 peak viewers.

League of Its Own

This iteration of League of Its Own has set a new benchmark for Red Bull’s esports events, surpassing its 2023 predecessor in viewership. Tournament’s success can be attributed to its innovative format, the presence of high-profile teams, and commentary from prominent streamers who also serve as team owners. The event’s strong performance suggests that this off-season tournament concept has established itself as a valuable addition to the competitive League of Legends calendar.

The tournament’s unique approach of combining established organizations with new challengers, while incorporating special rules and role swaps, has proven to be a winning formula. For both competitive entertainment and viewer engagement. As Red Bull’s most successful esports event to date, League of Its Own 2024 has demonstrated the continuing appeal of creative tournament formats in professional League of Legends.
