Jimbee Cartagena Defends Futsal League Title Amidst Major Player Movements

Just 109 days after Jimbee Cartagena claimed the championship, and following Spain’s disappointing World Cup performance in Uzbekistan, the ball is set to roll again. The action kicks off at the Vista Alegre pavilion, home of Pescados Rubén Burela. A team returning to the top division two seasons after relegation.

Jimbee Cartagena ended a 13-year reign where only Barça, seven titles and Movistar Inter wirh six titles had dominated the league. Under the leadership of president Miguel Ángel Jiménez Bosque and coach Eduardo Sao Thiago Lentz, known as Duda, the team secured its first national title by winning the league and the Super Cup. Defeating Barcelona in the Olivo Arena in Jaen.

TRANSFER MARKET MOVES

Movistar Inter has been the key player in the transfer market. Largely by drawing talent from Jimbee Cartagena. Despite Cartagena’s league success, three of their players: Lucao, Bebe, and Javi Mínguez have made the switch to Movistar. They join forces with Chaguinha, two-time European champion with Illes Balears Palma Futsal, as well as Carlos Bartolomé, fresh from his loan at ATP Iluminación Tudelano Ribera, and young talents Eloy de Pablos and Sergio Barona. Movistar Inter is building a squad aiming to end its title drought. Which has lasted since they won the Copa del Rey in 2021.

A NEW JIMBEE CARTAGENA

With several departures, the current champion, Jimbee Cartagena, has had to rebuild. Bringing in reinforcements from other league teams. New signings include Osanmusa from Córdoba World Heritage Site, Cortés from Quesos El Hidalgo Manzanares, Gon Castejón (on loan at Family Cash Alzira. Plus Linhares from Osasuna Magna, and French star Souhueil Mouhoudine from French side Étoile Lavallois. Duda’s squad now faces a triple challenge: defending their two national titles and preparing for their Champions League debut in two weeks, hosted by Sporting Anderlecht.

A PACKED SCHEDULE

The World Cup in Uzbekistan has delayed the league’s start, leading to a compressed schedule. Like Jimbee Cartagena, a rebuilt Illes Balears Palma Futsal will also compete in the Champions League, though they’ve had to contend with losing seven players while bringing in six new signings.

TINO PÉREZ AT BARÇA

Tino Pérez has taken over the reins at Barça, replacing Jesús Velasco on the bench. Pérez, with 18 titles to his name, is tasked with replicating the success of his fellow coach from Toledo, especially by winning the league and returning to the Champions League.

As the league begins, fans will be eager to move on from World Cup disappointments and refocus on the world’s top futsal league, which they can follow daily on Radio MARCA.
