Cristiano Marques: From Belgian Glory to Liga Placard with Torreense

Cristiano Marques, the 27-year-old Portuguese international goalkeeper, is set to return to Portugal after spending four years in Belgium. Anderlecht announced his departure from the squad this Thursday.

Marques, who began his career with AJAB Tabuaço and Burinhosa, gained prominence in his early years at Benfica, where he trained alongside goalkeepers such as Bebé, Juanjo, and Roncaglio, the latter of whom he reunited with in Belgium.

Following a loan spell at Eléctrico, he joined Halle-Gooik in 2020, which later formed a partnership with Anderlecht. During his time there, Cristiano won three league titles, three cups, and two Super Cups. He also reached the Champions League final four once with Anderlecht. He is now expected to return to the Liga Placard as part of Torreense’s revamped project.
