Super Smash Bros Ultimate Luminosity Invitational: Top Players Clash in Miami

Sixteen of the world’s top Super Smash Bros Ultimate players are set to face off at the second Luminosity Invitational in Miami, promising a highly competitive event. With the Smash Ultimate season nearing its conclusion, fourteen players have been invited, while two others secured their spots through qualifiers.

One of the qualifiers, Kazuki ‘Asimo’ Takeuchi, earned his place with a fourth-place finish at Supernova and is coming off a major victory, having defeated the world’s top player, Acola, at Sumabato SP51 using Ryu. Joining him is David ‘TM7_ZAP’ Krol, an unexpected contender playing Bowser Jr, who won an online last-chance qualifier but faces tough competition ahead.

The fourteen invited players include seasoned veterans like Sparg0, Light, Shuton, Glutonny, Kola, Dabuz, Shinymark, and Genesis 10 champion Zomba. Additionally, Luminosity’s own crew will be competing, featuring MkLeo, Sonix, Marss, Maister, and Tweek. Also, the winner of the previous Luminosity Invitational, Shadic, rounds out the list. The Corrin specialist has had a breakout year, ranking 7th on the LumiRank 2024.1.

The event kicks off on Friday, September 27, with player introductions at 6:00 PM EST, followed by a crew battle between the world’s best and Luminosity stars at 6:20. At 7:25, MkLeo will host a live edition of his podcast, GOAT Talk, and the night will end with random doubles at 8:30.

Saturday’s action begins with group stage matches to determine seeding for the main bracket. Group A starts at 11 AM with Sparg0, Zomba, MkLeo, and TM7_Zap. Group B follows at 2:15 PM with Sonix, Shinymark, Light, and Kola. At 5:30 PM, Group C will feature Shuton, Tweek, Glutonny, and Marss, and Group D, which starts at 8:45 PM, includes Shadic, Maister, Asimo, and Dabuz.

The double-elimination final bracket takes place on Sunday, starting at 11 AM. The entire event will be streamed on Luminosity Gaming’s Twitch channel.
