Fortnite esports is seeing a resurgence, with the recent FNCS 2024 Global Championship reaching over 809,800 peak viewers, one of the highest numbers in the game’s history. This level of excitement around Fortnite tournaments hasn’t been seen in the past five years.
The FNCS 2024 Global Championship marked the end of the 18th season of the Fortnite Champion Series, featuring the world’s top duos who qualified through regional events and majors. Fifty teams competed for a $2 million prize pool.
Peterbot and Pollo, representing Team Exceed, were crowned champions, finishing over 200 points ahead of their nearest competitors. Their outstanding performance capped off a season in which they won the last two North American majors, dominating one of Fortnite’s toughest regions.
The tournament’s peak viewership of 809,800 was a 12% increase from last year’s World Championship, setting a new series record and placing it among the top three most-watched Fortnite esports events, behind only the Fortnite World Cup 2019 Finals and the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am 2018.
Viewership
Viewership could have been even higher had more community streamers covered the event. The number of unique channels streaming the tournament dropped by nearly a third, with notable absences from streamers like Gotaga, TheGrefg, and Clix, although Clix participated in the event itself.

What contributed to the increased viewership of the FNCS 2024 Global Championship? YouTube’s average viewership doubled, while English-language streams nearly doubled in viewers. French-language streams declined due to Gotaga’s absence, but Portuguese, Spanish, and German streams saw slight increases.
The tournament also set several new records, including:
- TikTok record for Fortnite tournaments: 30,731 PV;
- Vietnamese language record: 5,209 PV;
- Bulgarian language record: 1,913 PV;
- Serbian language record: 509 PV;
- Danish YouTube esports record: 4,469 PV.
The official Fortnite Twitch channel matched its peak viewership from the Fortnite World Cup 2019, while the Fortnite Competitive YouTube channel reached a new high of 89,700 PV, a 62% increase.
BLAST
BLAST, the tournament operator known for hosting major international events, organized FNCS 2024. They also managed last year’s BLAST.tv Paris Major for Counter-Strike and February’s Six Invitational 2024 for Rainbow Six. This week, BLAST is hosting the RLCS 2024 World Championship for Rocket League.
The BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 remains BLAST’s most-watched event with 1.52 million peak viewers, while the BLAST Premier Fall 2021 Finals, following the record-breaking Stockholm Major, hit 2.74 million PV, a landmark for CS esports.
Earlier in the year, FNCS 2024 – Major 1: Europe also saw strong viewership, peaking at 739,500, surpassing last year’s World Championship. Despite being a long-running series, the Fortnite Champion Series continues to draw large audiences to its official broadcasts.
