ATP Ribera Navarra’s Summer Transfer Overhaul: New Signings and Departures

Listen to the article

ATP Ribera Navarra is leading the summer transfer market with a total of nine new signings. The team, under the leadership of Ramón Lázaro, has added two recent Brazilian recruits: center Guilherme dos Santos and winger Darrieer Soares Melo. Guilherme (26) joins from Córdoba, though his rights belong to Servigroup Peñíscola. He has signed a one-year contract with ATP Ribera Navarra and is known for his strong play with his back to the goal. Last season, he played 23 matches and scored six goals.

Darrieer (30), a right-footed winger from São Paulo with an Albanian passport, brings extensive international experience. He has previously played for Brazilian club Marreco, as well as teams in China, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Montenegro.

The club is also bringing back two key former players, José Antonio Fernández Castellano, known as Joselito, and Sergio Sierra de los Santos, or Sepe. This major squad overhaul comes ahead of their thirteenth consecutive season in Primera. With Álvaro Cordón Díez ‘Cone’ continuing as coach after securing the team’s stay in the league, President Ramón Lázaro emphasized the need for strengthening the squad to avoid past challenges. Captain David García has renewed his contract, marking his 13th season with the team.

From last year’s squad

From last year’s squad, goalkeeper Adrian Pereira, Brazilian winger Gabriel Vasques, and Argentine internationals Lucas Tripodi and Ángel Claudino are returning, though Claudino has offers from Italy and may leave. Youth player Alberto Lahuerta is also returning from his loan at Martorell.

The club has officially announced the signing of Joao Batista (35), a left-footed winger from Al Yarmouk in Kuwait. Joao Batista will be playing for his fourth Spanish team, having previously been with Palma, Barça, and Noia. He has also played in Iran and Russia.

In addition, the club has secured Madrid native Raúl Jiménez (from Levante) and three young players: right winger Marc Campas (from Anderlecht), defender Adrián Tapias (on loan from Barça), and wing-defender Dani Fernández (from Ceutí and on loan from Viña Albali Valdepeñas).

On the departure front, the club has seen nine players leave, matching their number of new signings. Departures include winter signings Dani Montes, Victor Montés, Portuguese goalkeeper Joao Silva, Brazilian pivot Matheus Dener, Moroccan internationals Hamza Maimón and Anás El Ayanne, as well as Carlos Bartolome (to Movistar Inter), Nacho Gómez, and Jorge Espín (to Wanapix Zaragoza).
