FURIA’s prominent ALGS player known as HisWattson has declared his permanent retirement from professional Apex Legends. Marking the end of his tenure with the team after making a surprising return to competitive gaming several months ago.
Jacob “HisWattson” McMillin has decided to step away from competitive Apex Legends and depart from FURIA’s lineup. Despite his comeback in December 2023 for Year 4, following his retirement in July of the same year. The recent resurgence with Wattson back in action, securing a spot in the Split 1 Playoffs LAN. The approaching start date of the LAN has prompted Wattson to announce his departure from the team and the competitive scene altogether.
In a tweet, Wattson revealed his decision to permanently leave the FURIA roster, citing various factors influencing his choice. Financially, he noted that competing no longer made sense for him as he earns significantly more as a content creator compared to his time as a professional player. Additionally, he mentioned the mental strain of professional gaming, the impact on his social life balancing content creation and competition, and the inability to prioritize his health due to his hectic schedule.
Wattson emphasized that his decision to step down was mutually agreed upon, with no animosity among the team members. He expressed optimism that this change would benefit everyone involved, allowing him to pursue his physical, social, mental, and financial goals more effectively.
With Wattson’s departure, FURIA will be substituting Alan “Vaxlon” Gonzalez for the Split 1 Playoffs LAN in Los Angeles.
