The Counter-Strike 2 community has expressed disappointment with the initial set of Major stickers for the Copenhagen Major, which, once again, feature a borderless design.
Valve had introduced the first set of borderless Major stickers since 2014 for the Stockholm Major in 2021, marking an exciting departure from previous years of bordered stickers. However, since then, four out of the five majors have featured borderless stickers, resulting in stickers that are nearly identical for each event, save for the event logo and select qualifying teams.
On March 13, stickers for the PGL Copenhagen Major were revealed on social media before an official announcement from Valve, eliciting palpable disappointment.
While it’s undeniable that players favored this design – evidenced by their considerable spending on capsule openings for the Paris Major – the repetition of identical stickers is now becoming monotonous.
“Disappointment is at an all-time high right now, not gonna lie,” one player responded. Another concurred, stating, “That’s a huge L, don’t want more borderless stickers. Valve is so lazy.” “Another fat L from Valve,” added a player. “We’re getting the same stickers over and over again. Classic lazy Valve.”
Despite the absence of a border, the holo design for holo-style stickers has excited some players, as it appears much more vivid than previous iterations.
Valve has yet to officially announce the stickers or make them available for purchase in-game, but it’s expected to happen on Thursday, March 14, or at the latest, March 15, with the Major commencing on March 17.
For sticker investors, a borderless design will almost certainly exert downward price pressure on older capsules and stickers from Stockholm, Antwerp, and Paris.
The PGL Copenhagen Major begins on March 17 with the opening stage, concluding with the Grand Final on March 31. In addition to the stickers, souvenir packages and the Pick’Em challenge are also anticipated to be available in-game before the first matches.
