Shock in Spanish Futsal: ATP Tudelano and Coach Zamorano Split After Just 9 Days

ATP Tudelano Ribera Navarra and Coach Zamorano Part Ways

In a surprising development, ATP Tudelano Ribera Navarra and David Zamorano have mutually agreed to terminate their contractual relationship. Just nine days after the Mostoleño coach was officially introduced by club President Ramón Lázaro. The orange club issued a brief statement thanking Zamorano for “his work at the club” and wishing him “good luck in his personal and professional future.”

Zamorano, who was presented on February 24, ended his tenure on March 5 with the struggling team, which currently sits second-to-last in the First Division. During his brief stint, he managed only two matches. Both resulting in defeats. An away loss to Palma Futsal (3-2) in Son Moix on Tuesday and a home loss to Cheeses El Hidalgo Manzanares (3-4) last Saturday in Tudela.

President Lázaro explained that “the recent poor results and the limited opportunity for recovery, given the difficulty of this category and each match, have forced the club to take action for the common good. Which is none other than trying to avoid relegation.”

reports

According to reports, key players in the squad requested the removal of the new coach during a meeting with the Tudelano leadership last Monday. Following a day that included three training sessions. Despite a subsequent meeting on Tuesday between Ramón Lázaro, David Zamorano, and team Captain David García, the Madrid coach ultimately agreed to leave ATP Tudelano Ribera Navarra on Wednesday.

“Coaching a team in the First Division has been a dream I’ve pursued for many years. I am proud to have maintained my ethical principles throughout, thereby preserving my professional dignity,” Zamorano stated in a release.

Regarding the events of Monday and Tuesday, Lázaro confirmed to the press “the locker room’s discomfort with the selection of the new coach”. Following the dismissal of Álvaro Cordón, known as Cone. Zamorano elaborated on his X profile that “in the last 48 hours, I have experienced situations as coach of a first division team that fall short of the necessary standards in club management. As well as the minimum sporting standards expected of elite players.”

commitment to ethics

He added, “My commitment to ethics and professionalism has always been non-negotiable. Therefore, staying true to my values rather than remaining on the bench was not a difficult decision. I return home to my family with a clear conscience and my integrity intact.”

As of yesterday and today, training sessions have been conducted by Francisco Javier Jiménez, known as ‘Kapu’. Who will serve as interim coach, similar to the approach taken by Viña Albali Valdepeñas and Jaén Paraíso Interior with positive results. His appointment has reportedly satisfied the squad, which faces a crucial match next Saturday, March 15, against bottom-placed Wanapix Zaragoza. However, President Lázaro has not ruled out hiring a new permanent coach.

In related futsal news, Jaén Paraíso Interior has announced that their match against Osasuna Magna has been rescheduled from Sunday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as originally planned. Although the RFEF had initially objected citing “television issues,” they have reconsidered following criticism from Jaén coach Dani Rodríguez. Rodríguez had pointed out that his team was the only Spanish Cup qualifier required to play on Sunday. While also being scheduled for the opening quarterfinal match against Movistar Inter on Thursday, March 20. The National Football Committee and First Division head Luis Amando have since rectified the situation.
