Dyego Zuffo’s Barça Future Uncertain as Contract Talks Stall
Dyego Zuffo (born August 5, 1989, in Palmitos) faces an increasingly uncertain future at FC Barcelona as his contract winds down. After signing a renewal in 2022, the Brazilian winger’s contract expires on June 30, and since January 1, the world’s top player has been free to negotiate with any club.
Sources confirm that Barcelona is only willing to offer a one-year extension. While the financial terms appear satisfactory to the Brazilian national team captain, the 36-year-old is reportedly dissatisfied with the contract duration. This disagreement has stalled negotiations, placing the reigning World Cup Golden Ball winner on the radar of major European clubs and Saudi Arabian teams as one of the most sought-after free agents in futsal.

Prior to the Spanish Super Cup, Zuffo addressed his contract situation on January 17 during an interview with Catalunya Radio’s “Tot Costa” program, stating: “We are in discussions. The club wants me to continue, and I’m considering staying as well. I don’t think it will take long to decide my future. I believe we’ve always fulfilled our obligations to each other. I’ve consistently performed at the highest level. Today, I believe I’m the player who has worn the Barça shirt the most.”
Since joining Barcelona in January 2014, Zuffo is now in his twelfth season with the club. During his tenure, he has collected an impressive 17 trophies. 3 Champions Leagues, 4 domestic leagues, 4 Spanish Cups, 5 King’s Cups, and 3 Super Cups. The Brazilian winger has scored 199 goals across all competitions. 161 in the League, 18 in Champions League, 14 in the King’s Cup, 3 in the Spanish Cup, and 3 in the Super Cup. Making him the fourth-highest scorer in the history of the club’s futsal section.

Despite Zuffo’s earlier optimism about reaching an agreement soon and his assertion that “my performance remains at a high level,” negotiations have dragged into March without resolution. Barcelona’s Team Manager, Jordi Torras, has made it clear to the player that their offer stands. Though the door remains open for the club’s number 7 to continue his career at Barça.
As a precautionary measure, Barcelona is monitoring Luciano Gauna, an Argentine winger from Peñíscola Servigroup who has been one of the season’s revelations and represents a market opportunity as his contract also nears its end. While the final decision rests with Zuffo, his continuation at Barcelona appears increasingly unlikely.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has strung together four consecutive league victories, the most recent being a 4-2 win against Jaén Paraíso Interior. The team has overcome an injury crisis, with coach Tino Pérez noting, “We’re showing more consistency,” and adding, “We’re feeling good and improving in competitiveness, aggressiveness, and behavior, which I believe forms the foundation before adding tactical elements and talent.”
