The Tudelano ATP incorporates David Zamorano

ATP Tudelano Ribera Navarra Appoints David Zamorano as New Head Coach

ATP Tudelano Ribera Navarra has officially announced David Zamorano as their new head coach following the departure of Álvaro Cordón Díez (known as Cone) on February 16. Since Cone’s exit, the team has secured two significant victories against Albali Valdepeñas and Jaén Paraíso Interior. Zamorano now faces eleven remaining league matches to ensure the team maintains its position in the First Division.

The coach from Móstoles brings considerable experience to the role, having previously led CD Leganés FS for three seasons, guiding them to promotion to the Second Division in 2020. He also managed Real Betis’ reserve team in the Second Division during the 2021-2022 season. Zamorano’s extensive coaching background includes stints with clubs in both first and second divisions, including FS Móstoles, Futsal Segovia, and Pinto FS. His achievements extend to women’s futsal, where he led Móstoles to two Spanish championships and a Supercup. Additionally, he served as assistant coach for the Uzbekistan national team.

Club President Ramón Lázaro expressed confidence in the appointment, stating: “We are very proud to welcome a coach with such extensive experience in futsal. We believe he will maximize the potential of our squad, which has shown great competitiveness in recent matches. We have complete faith in this project with survival as our clear objective, which is practically an obligation for both players and coaching staff.”

Under Cone’s leadership, the team had managed only 2 victories in 17 matches. In contrast, since his departure, the Navarro team has already matched that win total and demonstrated improved offensive output, scoring more goals (12) in the last two matches than in the previous five games combined (11).

The Riojan coach

The Riojan coach will continue working with ATP Tudelano in the role of technical secretary. Francisco Javier Jiménez, known as ‘Kapu,’ will serve as Zamorano’s assistant coach. “We want to provide continuity in the project to two individuals who have proven their worth throughout these years,” Lázaro explained.

The new ATP Tudelano head coach described his squad as “an experienced team with international players—a balanced mixture of veterans and youth.” He emphasized his preferred playing style as “very aggressive and dynamic” while stressing that “in the first division, teams that don’t defend well don’t win.”

Zamorano acknowledged the team’s recent improvements, noting that “the last six points have given us significant momentum, and now we must continue working. The teams behind us should be the ones worried.” He added that they need to focus on catching Córdoba and Valdepeñas, who are currently ahead of them in the standings. Zamorano also praised the club’s supporters: “It’s difficult to find fans like those in Tudela anywhere else in Spain. We must leverage that support to secure our survival.”
