VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok – Everything You Need to Know

The VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok begins on February 20, marking the first international LAN event of the Valorant Champions Tour season. Eight elite teams from the four International Leagues will battle for a $500,000 prize pool and crucial VCT Points. Last year’s opening Masters event set a new viewership record for Valorant, raising the bar for this year’s competition.

This year’s event will be held in Thailand for the first time, taking place at UOB Live. As Valorant continues to expand its presence in Asian markets, hosting international LAN events in Southeast Asia is a strategic effort by the developers to foster local enthusiasm and grow the game’s esports audience.

However, the event’s location in Asia may create challenges for fans in North and South America, two of Valorant’s most significant regions. The time zone difference means American viewers will need to tune in during early morning hours. For those on the U.S. West Coast, matches will start at 2 a.m., potentially ending at sunrise. This could affect viewership for popular teams like Sentinels, who may not achieve the same viewership peaks as in previous international tournaments.

The lineup of qualified teams reveals some gaps in representation. No Latin American team secured a spot, though MIBR came close. French and Spanish audiences from EMEA also have limited options, with only Team Vitality qualifying, while fans often gravitate toward teams supported by content creators like Gentle Mates and Karmine Corp. Japanese fans, too, lack a local team to cheer for, with the last Japanese team qualifying for a Masters event back in 2022. That year, Japanese viewership peaked at nearly 420,000, rivaling North American and international English-speaking audiences.

VALORANT MASTERS BANGKOK 2025 SCHEDULE

The tournament begins with an eight-team Swiss Stage, where teams face opponents from different International Leagues. Two wins are required to advance to the four-team Playoffs, which use a double-elimination format. Teams that lose twice in the Swiss Stage will be eliminated. All matches are best-of-three, except for the lower bracket final and grand finals, which are best-of-five, providing ample opportunity for high viewership peaks. If the grand finals feature popular teams and go the distance, this year’s event could deliver impressive viewership numbers.

A Showmatch has also been announced, featuring Team Thailand vs. Team International. The Thai team will be led by Nattawat “SuperBusS” Yoosawat, while Tyson “TenZ” Ngo will captain the international squad. TenZ’s involvement could make this one of the most-watched showmatches in VCT history, especially given the decline in English-language viewership following his retirement.
