Spain’s Women’s Futsal Team: Battling for World Cup Qualification in 2025

As 2025 begins, the Spanish women’s futsal national team is ramping up preparations for a critical World Cup qualification tournament. Head coach Clàudia Pons has carefully selected a 16-player squad to compete in the upcoming Premundial tournament in France from March 18 to 23, where they’ll fight for one of two coveted spots in the Philippines World Cup.

The team will undergo an intensive training camp at Las Rozas Soccer City, running from Sunday, February 9 to Thursday, February 13. During this period, they’ll participate in a preparatory match against the Movistar Inter cadet team on Wednesday, February 12 at 19:30.

The selected squad showcases a diverse range of futsal talent from various clubs. The goalkeeper lineup includes Elena (Poio Pescamar), Marta (Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero), and Ari (MRB Móstoles FSF). Defensive positions are filled by closures Laura Córdoba (Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero), Mayte (STV Roldán), and Noelia (CD Burela FS).

Wing positions feature Ale de Paz (Poio Pescamar), Antía (CD Burela FS), Lili and Albita (Arriva Ad Alcorcón FS), Anita Luján (Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero), Anita (Lbtl Alcantarilla), and Luci Gómez (AE Les Corts UBAE).

The pivotal pivot positions are occupied by Vane Sotelo (Arriva Ad Alcorcón), Ireee Córdoba (Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero), and Dany Domingos (CD Burela FS).

With 14 international players aiming to secure their World Cup berth, this training camp represents a crucial stepping stone in Spain’s quest to compete on the global futsal stage. The team’s performance in the upcoming Premundial tournament will determine their path to the Philippines World Cup.
