Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero Clinches Spanish Futsal Super Cup in Thrilling Final Under New Coach Linares

In an exciting Spanish Super Cup final, Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero claimed a 2-1 victory over Torreblanca Melilla, securing their eighth title in the competition’s history. This triumph marked a significant milestone for Joan Linares, who earned his first trophy as head coach after a legendary playing career that saw him score an impressive 602 goals in Spanish futsal.

The match was particularly notable as it featured Torreblanca Melilla reaching the final after ending Burela’s five-year winning streak in the competition. The game, hosted at the Móstoles Sur Pau-4 Pavilion with RFEF president Rafael Louzán in attendance, showcased contrasting team compositions. Navalcarnero fielded several Spanish national team players, including goalkeeper Marta, Anita Luján, the Córdoba twins (Laura and Irene), and María Sanz. In contrast, Torreblanca Melilla, under coach Gonzalo Iglesias ‘Morenín’, featured a diverse international squad with eight Brazilian players. Including the talented Amandinha, alongside Ukrainian, Argentine, and Japanese players.

The scoring opened in the fourth minute when Laura Córdoba, who would later be named MVP, outmaneuvered Amandinha and found the net with assistance from a deflection past goalkeeper BIA. The second half saw Melilla respond strongly, with Ana Luiza capitalizing on a rebound from Silvina’s initial shot to level the score. However, María Sanz secured the victory for Navalcarnero in the 34th minute, exploiting a defensive error by Jane. Despite Melilla’s late attempts with a five-player attack, goalkeeper Valbuena’s stellar performance helped Navalcarnero secure their first Super Cup since 2019.

This victory not only adds to Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero’s impressive trophy collection but also validates their decision to appoint Linares, who has quickly demonstrated his winning mentality in his transition from player to coach.
