Felipe Valerio Signs with Sporting CP: Brazilian Futsal Star’s Next Chapter

Sporting CP has secured the signing of Brazilian futsal star Felipe Valerio, who will join the Portuguese champions on June 30, 2025. The 31-year-old right winger has agreed to a three-year contract with the Lisbon-based club after declining to renew his terms with ElPozo Murcia Costa Calida.

Valerio’s move marks the end of his successful tenure with ElPozo Murcia, where he has been a key player since 2018. Prior to his Spanish league experience, the São Paulo native played for Carlos Barbosa in Brazil from 2014 to 2018. Collecting impressive accolades including two Copa Libertadores titles and a Brazilian Super Cup.

While Sporting CP, who are set to compete in the UEFA Futsal Champions League Final Four, reportedly explored the possibility of bringing Valerio in during the winter transfer window, ElPozo Murcia has remained firm in their stance against an early release. The Spanish club, currently facing performance challenges despite retaining coach Dani Martínez, is preparing for the Spanish Super Cup.

ElPozo Murcia is undergoing significant squad changes, having already secured new contracts with Marcel Marques, Portuguese goalkeeper Edu Sousa, Ricardo Mayor, and David Alvarez. However, several players including Juanjo Angosto, Marlon, Gadeia, and Esteban Cejudo face uncertain futures as their contracts approach expiration.

In Spanish Copa del Rey action, Movistar Inter advanced to the quarter-finals with a dramatic 4-3 victory over defending champions Real Betis. Sealed by Thomas Drahovský’s hat-trick-completing header in the final second. The quarter-final draw, scheduled for January 15, will feature eight Primera División teams: Movistar Inter, Jaén Paraíso Interior, Servigroup Peñíscola, Barça, Viña Albali Valdepeñas, Jimbee Cartagena Costa Cálida, Palma Futsal, and Wanapix Sala 10 Zaragoza.
