Burela Futsal Club Faces Crisis as Major Sponsor Exits: Inside the 750,000€ Financial Storm

Financial Crisis Rocks Burela Futsal Club After Major Sponsor Withdrawal

Burela Futsal Club faces severe financial difficulties following the departure of their main sponsor, Pescados Rubén. The sponsorship loss, valued at over 750,000 euros, has already impacted the club’s operations, forcing their women’s team to withdraw from the European Club Tournament despite being considered frontrunners in the competition.

Following a recent Galician derby match against Noia Portus Apóstoli, Burela’s head coach David Rial chose to address the club’s challenging situation rather than discuss the game itself. In an emotional press conference, Rial described how the financial crisis has affected the community, noting that local residents have even offered personal donations to help cover basic utilities.

“We need to find a path forward,” Rial stated, acknowledging the strain of operating without proper funding for half a year. He expressed optimism about the club leadership’s efforts to secure new financial backing, while also reflecting on whether the club’s current operating model is sustainable.

The situation has begun affecting player retention, with concerns about potential departures of key team members like Malaguti and Meirás. Despite these challenges, Rial emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook while the club works to resolve its financial difficulties and secure its future in Spanish futsal.
