Transfer Market: Argentine Star Juan Brasesco Joins Wanapix Zaragoza in Bid to Save Season

In a bid to turn around their challenging season, Wanapix Zaragoza has made significant moves in the transfer market. Currently sitting in the penultimate position in Spain’s First Division with just one win and one draw from eleven matches, the club has taken decisive action to strengthen their squad.

The team has secured the services of Argentine international Juan Brasesco from Boca Juniors. The 26-year-old left winger brings European experience, having previously played in Italy’s Serie A-2 with Modena Cavezzo in 2022. Brasesco, who recently helped Argentina claim victory in the 2024 CONMEBOL Evolution League under coach Matías Lucuix, is known for his technical prowess and physical presence on the court.

strategic importance

Head coach Jorge Palos highlighted the strategic importance of this signing, noting that the team had been struggling with injuries in the left-wing position. “His offensive capabilities and one-on-one skills will be valuable assets for us,” Palos explained. “While he’ll need time to adapt, his experience with both Boca and the national team gives us confidence in his ability to contribute immediately.” The club is working to complete the necessary paperwork to have Brasesco available for their upcoming match against Industrias Santa Coloma on January 3.

This acquisition coincides with developments regarding Bateria’s situation at the club. Local media outlet Sport Sala, broadcasting on 7 Zaragoza Television, reports that the club is in discussions to terminate the Brazilian winger’s contract. Despite arriving as a marquee signing in June, Bateria has yet to make his debut due to ongoing knee problems. The player recently expressed his frustration on social media about his prolonged recovery period.

Meanwhile, Córdoba has also strengthened their roster by adding another Argentine talent. Agustín ‘Titi’ del Rey, a 23-year-old right winger, joins from San Lorenzo de Almagro on an 18-month contract. Del Rey brings an impressive track record, having won two league titles in 2022 and 2023, plus a Copa Libertadores triumph in 2021. His speed, dribbling ability, and experience with fellow countrymen at his new club could help ease his transition to Spanish futsal.
