Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s premier tournament, the M6 World Championship, has returned for its sixth edition. Throughout 2024, regional MLBB leagues like MPL Indonesia and the Philippines reached record-breaking viewership numbers, reflecting the game’s growing popularity. This momentum positions the M6 as one of the year’s standout events in mobile gaming.
The M6 boasts MLBB’s first-ever million-dollar prize pool and marks its return to Malaysia, the site of the inaugural World Championship. As mobile esports continues to rise, this tournament remains the pinnacle of competition for the title.
This year’s championship introduced the Wildcard Stage, first seen at M5, which adds more matches and broadcast time. However, changes at the M6 reduced the Wildcard duration by nearly 14 hours compared to last year, with only one team advancing instead of two. Despite the shorter schedule, the stage achieved 3.53 million hours watched, with a significant rise in both average and peak viewership.
The peak of 334.9K concurrent viewers occurred during RRQ Akira’s match against The MongolZ. Indonesian fans played a significant role, contributing 218.4K peak viewers—double the numbers from M5—thanks to their loyalty to the RRQ organization. On the other hand, regions like Malaysia and Russia saw declines due to limited representation during the Wildcard Stage.
Looking ahead, Malaysian and Russian viewership is expected to rebound during the main event as more local teams join the fray. Turkey’s ULFHEDNAR was the only team to qualify through the Wildcard Stage, with their match against China’s DianFengYaoGuai generating one of the stage’s highest peaks, including strong English-language viewership.
The M6’s main stage, utilizing a Swiss System format, kicks off on November 28. With regional circuits breaking records throughout the year, the event has the potential to set new benchmarks for MLBB and mobile esports as a whole.
