Valorant’s women’s esports circuit, Game Changers, has set a new peak viewership record with 453,000 concurrent viewers during the 2024 final. This marks a significant increase from the 2023 final, which had 293,000 viewers—a jump of over 50% year-over-year and a major milestone for the league.
Women-focused and gender-marginalized esports leagues often face challenges in securing a lasting presence, from sponsorship struggles to establishing stability. Despite some progress with female players joining rosters across various esports, these instances remain rare.
Game Changers has reshaped the landscape of women’s esports, providing a platform for female players to excel and gain recognition. The league has cultivated a strong fanbase, with top players earning admiration and even calls to join tier-one leagues.
In the 2024 final, Shopify Rebellion emerged as back-to-back champions, taking home $180,000. Notably, women are not barred from competing in the main Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), and figures like Potter, a trailblazing coach for Evil Geniuses, have demonstrated the potential for success at the highest levels.
However, Game Changers isn’t the most-watched women’s esports league. The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Invitational 2023 reached a peak of over 1.3 million concurrent viewers, far surpassing the Game Changers record. Meanwhile, the overall Valorant record belongs to Masters Madrid 2024, with over 1.6 million viewers.
Still, the Game Changers league’s rapid growth and 453,000 peak viewers underscore its rising influence in the esports world.
