PUBG Global Series 6 Wrap-Up: Twisted Minds’ Triumph and Record Viewership

The PUBG Global Series 6 concluded last weekend in Thailand, serving as the final major tournament before the PUBG Global Championship 2024. The event drew over 320,000 concurrent viewers at its peak, marking one of the game’s highest viewership figures this year.

A surprising twist at PGS6 was the underperformance of prominent Global Partners like Natus Vincere, Soniqs, and Petrichor Road. Despite their high profiles, none of these teams reached the top 16 in the first stage, facing early elimination. To provide context, NAVI are the reigning champions from the PUBG Global Championship 2022, and both Soniqs and Petrichor Road were recent finalists at the Esports World Cup 2024.

Twisted Minds emerged as the PGS6 champions, continuing their winning streak from PGS4 and PGS5. This Eastern European team has solidified its place among PUBG’s elite.

With nearly 3.5 million Hours Watched, PGS6 is the most-watched PUBG tournament of 2024 so far, only slightly behind PGS2 and PGS1 from 2023. The event’s peak viewership of over 327,000 concurrent viewers also set a new series record, making it the second-highest for PUBG events this year, just behind the PUBG Nations Cup 2024. The PUBG Global Championship 2024 may soon shift PGS6 to third place.

On average, PGS6 maintained 124.8k concurrent viewers, the second-best in series history, trailing only PGS4 by a small margin.

2024

In 2024, PGS6 has become the most-watched PUBG event, with the Global Series showing steady growth in watch time each season. PGS6 outperformed Season 5 in total Hours Watched by 3.4%, nearly reaching 3.5 million, while peak viewership increased by 19.8% compared to the previous season. Among all PUBG events this year, only the PUBG Nations Cup saw a higher peak viewership.

PGS6 also highlighted some shifts in platform and language trends. The tournament’s location in Thailand, along with three Thai teams in the finals, likely contributed to a significant increase in Thai viewership. Vietnamese viewership also rose, while NimoTV experienced a 32% rise in peak viewership.

YouTube retained its dominance in the PGS viewership, growing its share from 56% in PGS5 to 58%. Meanwhile, TikTok’s share declined from 9% to 5.7%, largely due to reduced reach on the pubg_battlegrounds_vn channel.

The PUBG Global Championship 2024 will take place from December 19–22 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, featuring a $1.5 million prize pool. The season’s top 24 teams will compete for the title, and fans can follow the tournament stats and results on the event’s coverage page.
