Saigon Phantom Dominates AoG Winter 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City

On October 27, the Arena of Glory Winter 2024, Vietnam’s premier Arena of Valor league, wrapped up at the Military Zone 7 Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. While it didn’t set new records, it drew enough viewers to become one of the series’ most successful editions.

Eight of Vietnam’s top teams competed for a prize pool totaling $236,500. After nearly three months of competition, Saigon Phantom defeated One Star Esports 4-1 in the Grand Finals, securing the championship.

The champion received approximately $71,000, with the runner-up earning around $39,500. The top five teams also qualified for the Arena of Valor International Championship 2024 and the opening split of next season, while the sixth-place team earned a spot in the 2025 event.

AoG Winter 2024 hit a peak of 571.6K viewers during a Group Stage Week 6, Day 5 showdown between Team Flash and Saigon Phantom. Surprisingly, the Grand Final ranked only fourth among the most-watched matches, with both Team Flash vs. Saigon Phantom games surpassing 500K viewers.

An additional group stage added to this year’s format helped elevate pool stage matches’ popularity, pushing the event’s total to 25.2M hours watched and an average viewership of 113.6K over 222 hours, surpassing the spring split’s viewership.

Team Flash and Saigon Phantom remain two of the most popular teams in the AoG series, with Saigon Phantom winning the past seven splits and Team Flash achieving a four-peat from 2018 to 2020. Their rivalry consistently draws more viewers than other match-ups.

This marked the seventh consecutive finals meeting between Saigon Phantom and One Star Esports. One Star, established in February 2024 by former V Gaming members, has yet to break their “second-place curse.”

TikTok’s impact on AoG Winter 2024 was noteworthy, with its watch-time share growing by 66.8% over Spring 2024 and peak viewership up by 21.3%.

Most watched Arena of Glory tournaments

Arena of Glory Winter 2024 became the second most-watched event in the series after 2022, ranking third on the peak viewership leaderboard and within the top five in Arena of Valor history.

Vietnam remains one of the most rapidly expanding esports markets in Asia, with this recent Arena of Valor split highlighting the dedication of its fans. Their support will likely shape viewership at the upcoming AIC 2024.
