Illes Balears Palma Futsal: Making History in European Competitions

Illes Balears Palma Futsal continues to make European futsal history. The club, a two-time UEFA Futsal Champions League winner, has stayed unbeaten since its October 25, 2022 debut in the top continental tournament. In two short years, this rookie team has conquered the European scene and aims to extend its reign in 2025. Over the 732 days since entering the competition, Palma Futsal has claimed two of the three titles in its 26-year history, including an Intercontinental Cup, and remains undefeated after 19 matches. Under Coach Antonio Vadillo, they’ve won 14 games, drawn 5, and emerged victorious in all seven European phases they’ve contested.

Their recent three wins in Group 3 at Son Moix secured their spot in the Elite Round, where they’ll compete for a place in the Final Four for the third consecutive year—a remarkable achievement for a team with no national titles yet, but a reputation as an international powerhouse.

Coach Vadillo praised the team’s performance, saying, “Participating three years straight in Europe is incredibly tough. It may seem routine, but it’s extraordinary. We must value this journey, keep competing, and dare to dream.”

Back to Back

With their back-to-back UEFA titles, Palma Futsal matched records held by Playas de Castellón (2002 and 2003) and Movistar Inter (2017 and 2018). They’ll now chase an unprecedented third consecutive title. First, they must navigate the Elite Round from November 26 to December 1. Where they’ll be seeded alongside Jimbee Cartagena, SC Braga, and Kairat Almaty under Catalan coach Marlon Velasco. The group draw, set for October 31 in Nyon, will decide the four groups of 16 teams battling for the Final Four from May 1–4, 2025.

Beyond the Champions League, Palma Futsal has also requested to host the Main Round for a third straight year. Multiple clubs, including Cartagena, Lisbon, Riga, Zagreb, Catania, and Bielsko-Biała, have applied, with the final hosting decision to be made on Thursday in Nyon.

Next up, Palma Futsal takes on Magnus from Brazil, Copa Libertadores champions, in the Intercontinental Cup at Son Moix on Saturday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. Palma Futsal will defend its title on home ground with future signing Charuto on the roster, in a thrilling event for their loyal fans.
