Several Call of Duty world champions, including OpTic Texas’ Dashy and Shotzzy, have openly shared their initial reactions to the Black Ops 6 maps—and the response has been far from enthusiastic.
Maps and level design play a critical role in any Call of Duty game, shaping players’ overall enjoyment. Iconic titles like Black Ops 2, often celebrated as the best in the series, owe much of their success to memorable maps.
However, early feedback on Black Ops 6 suggests its maps might not reach the high bar Treyarch has set in the past. The world’s top players seem to agree. Dashy bluntly stated, “We have no maps this year, bro… The maps are fking dogst. The game’s good, but the maps are f**king horrible.” He went on to suggest that maps from Black Ops 4, such as Arsenal and Frequency, could be valuable additions.
Shotzzy shared a similar sentiment, lamenting the lack of suitable maps for competitive play and noting that typically, they can work with at least three or four.
Dashy and Shotzzy’s criticisms of the map selection reflect a broader frustration: “These maps are dogsh*t—what happened to Treyarch? They need to bring back some BO4 maps.”
Atlanta FaZe’s Simp also chimed in, describing the maps as “one-dimensional,” comparing them to the less popular Al Bagra Fortress from Modern Warfare 2.
It’s not just pro players who are disappointed; casual players feel underwhelmed too, with many saying they aren’t excited by the current map lineup.
In our own review of Black Ops 6, we also noted that while the game excels in many areas, its map selection holds it back. However, there’s still potential for changes that might win over the community.
