Illes Balears Palma Futsal and Jimbee Cartagena secured their spots in the Elite Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League with two wins in their Main Round matches today. The current titleholder claimed a second victory, while the reigning league champion celebrated its first-ever European win, earning a ticket to the next phase. This phase, scheduled from November 26 to December 1, will determine the four spots in the 2025 Final Four.
After defeating Croatian team MNK Dinamo 1-9, the two-time European champion faced a tougher challenge in their second Main Round match against United Galati. But ultimately won 4-0 under Antonio Vadillo’s guidance. Son Moix witnessed another successful game for the Balearic team. Who lead Group 3 and remain unbeaten in 18 UEFA Futsal Champions League matches since their debut three seasons ago. They will wrap up the first phase on Saturday against Slovenian side Dobovec, with first place already secured, allowing them to avoid tougher matchups in the next round.
Elite Round
Jimbee Cartagena, following a 1-1 draw in their continental opener against Polish team Rekord, showcased their strength by defeating Ukrainian side Hit 4-1, thus ensuring their qualification for the Elite Round. This marked the club’s first-ever victory in the UEFA Futsal Champions League, sealing their advancement to the next stage. Duda’s squad now aims to top Group 1 and become one of the four seeds in the October 31 draw in Nyon, just like Palma Futsal. To achieve this, they must defeat CSR Anderlecht on Saturday.
Of the 16 top-seeded teams in Route A of the Main Round, 12 have qualified. 3 from each Main Round group, with the top 4 from each group in Route B filling out the Elite Round. Alongside Palma and Cartagena, other qualified teams include Portugal’s Sporting and Braga, and Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty.
This Friday and Saturday will determine the remaining teams vying for a place in the Final Four. Set to be held from May 1 to 4, 2025. A busy schedule continues for Balearic Palma Futsal. Who, almost immediately after, will face the Intercontinental Cup final on Saturday, November 2, at the Palau Municipal d’Esports Son Moix. The Spanish team, as defending champions, will go up against Magnus Futsal, the Copa Libertadores champions. The Brazilian team, which features Charuto, future player for the Balearic side, was eliminated from the league play-offs due to an ineligible lineup, making the world title their top goal.
