KOI, MAD Lions, and Toronto Ultra Set to Unite Under OverActive Media

During a Twitch stream on October 16, Ibai Llanos revealed that his esports organization, KOI, will be merging with other brands under the OverActive Media umbrella. This integration includes not only KOI but also the LEC’s MAD Lions, Overwatch’s Toronto Defiant, and Call of Duty League’s Toronto Ultra.

The concept of unifying these teams has been discussed before, particularly by Toronto Ultra executives. It was even brought up during conversations about merging brands across the Call of Duty League (CDL) and Overwatch League (OWL), prior to OWL’s eventual shutdown.

Ibai’s recent statements suggest that the consolidation might be happening soon. He openly addressed the issue on stream, stating:

“We are going to make a very important change in KOI. We are going to unify all the teams, and it is something that I would like to do with you live. Stay tuned for next week, I’ll probably show you the new logos and colors and let you choose.”

Ibai added that their vision is for “everything to be purple,” a color already central to both KOI and Toronto Ultra’s branding.

However, this contrasts with the current jerseys of the Toronto Defiant, which are red and black, and MAD Lions, whose colors are primarily blue and white.

A noteworthy detail is that the Overwatch team recently competed at the Esports World Cup under the Toronto Ultra name rather than Defiant. This may have been a strategic move to gain World Cup points and potentially increase earnings. But it could also hint at KOI’s plans for its teams.

While other organizations involved with KOI haven’t officially confirmed anything, Ibai seems eager to share more updates with his community soon.
