Magnus vs São Lourenço LNF Play-off Suspended Amid Controversy

It’s the hottest topic in Brazilian futsal right now. The second leg of the LNF round of 16 play-off between Magnus and São Lourenço, originally set for this Friday, has been suspended.

The controversy stems from the first leg: Magnus won 7-3 in São Lourenço, but they fielded Dieguinho, a player who shouldn’t have participated.

In the final round of the regular season, the winger received his fifth yellow card in the competition, which meant he was supposed to serve a suspension during the match against São Lourenço – something that didn’t happen.

According to the regulations, if a team uses an ineligible player in the play-offs, they will be disqualified from the competition.

Due to this incident, Reinaldo Simões, the Magnus official responsible for the mistake, has even offered his resignation, admitting fault.

Until the Disciplinary Commission of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) reaches a verdict, the second leg remains suspended. The trial is scheduled for Monday, October 21st.
