Fresskowy’s MAD Lions Exit: Exploring New Horizons After Worlds 2024

Fresskowy, the MAD Lions KOI mid laner, was released by the team shortly after their elimination from Worlds 2024, receiving criticism for his gameplay and inability to perform on Yone, a key pick in the Worlds meta.

As a result, he’s been “permitted to explore options,” a typical term used when a team is looking to sell a player’s contract. His last match took place on October 7, and by October 10, he publicly announced his search for a new team.

Fresskowy, a rookie in the LEC, had a lot to prove despite having competed in League of Legends since 2017. Coming into MAD Lions, the team faced skepticism. They had a strong start in LEC Winter 2024 with a second-place finish but failed to secure another podium throughout the year until the Season Finals, where they placed third and earned a Worlds 2024 spot, despite an overall negative win rate.

This qualification process drew criticism from LEC fans, who doubted MAD’s ability to make an impact at Worlds 2024. Although they advanced from Play-Ins, MAD Lions were eliminated in the Swiss stage without securing a win after a loss to GAM, a team from Vietnam’s VCS.

While Fresskowy had some standout performances at Worlds 2024, he struggled to capitalize on leads and underperformed on Yone, despite it being a powerful champion in the meta. As a result, he’s now allowed to explore other options.

However, with his contract running until 2026, any team interested in acquiring him would likely face a significant buyout.
