Bleed Esports CEO Faces Trial Amid Financial Misconduct and Player Salary Controversies

Bleed Esports CEO, Goh En Wei Mervyn, is set to stand trial in Singapore, though the exact nature of the charges remains undisclosed. It is confirmed to be a criminal case, falling under the expansive Penal Code 1871, which covers a wide range of offenses, from theft and assault to extortion and financial crimes.

The hearing, scheduled for October 21, 2024, leaves many questions unanswered about the specific allegations. However, Mervyn’s name was previously linked to a 2022 assault case involving Lincoln Lim Jun Hong. Lim, who was accused of attacking a woman, had Mervyn present during the incident. Lim, an early investor in Bleed Esports, had invested $1.5 million through his company, Hydroflux, in a partnership with the organization in 2021.

In addition to this, there are speculations that Mervyn’s legal troubles might be related to accusations from former Bleed Esports players. These players allege that the organization failed to pay them their salaries. Aleksandar “Kassad” Trifunovic, the former coach of Bleed’s Counter-Strike 2 team, claims the organization owes tens of thousands in unpaid salaries and prize money, which includes:

  • $130k not paid to Apeks (since May 15)
  • $42k not paid to G2 (since June)
  • $100k in unpaid prize money
  • $15k owed to Faven
  • $15k+ owed to CerQ
  • $10k owed to VLDN
  • $20k+ owed to Kassad himself

Bleed Esports was also recently removed from the VCT (Valorant Champions Tour) by Riot Games due to non-compliance with essential reporting and other obligations.

Even the team’s Rainbow 6 squad is facing financial issues, with player Terdsta claiming he is owed over $35k. He revealed that, while competing abroad, he was paid less than $700 USD a month, relying on streaming to cover basic expenses.

Mervyn has not yet addressed these allegations, and with multiple Bleed Esports teams, including their rosters in CS2, Valorant, DOTA 2, and Rainbow 6, in disarray, the future of the organization appears uncertain.
