Justin Wong shocked as MenaRD learns Daigo parry on first day of Street Fighter 3 training

Fighting game legend Justin Wong and Street Fighter prodigy MenaRD are set for a $10k money match in Street Fighter: Third Strike. Mena’s goal isn’t just to win—he wants to recreate the iconic EVO Moment 37 and make Justin relive one of his worst defeats.

Despite winning several EVO titles and still being competitive after more than 20 years, JWong’s most famous moment remains his loss to Daigo (although making people return MvC2 the day it launched comes close, earning him the nickname “The Wazzler”).

For this match, MenaRD isn’t just aiming for victory—he’s determined to defeat Justin the way Daigo did, with a flawless parry.

Mena’s practicing for this by inputting Chun-Li’s super on his keyboard, then switching to his controller to parry it—no easy feat, given that Street Fighter: Third Strike lacks the advanced training tools of modern games like Tekken 8, where you can record and repeat inputs. This means Mena has to manually input the sequence every time he practices.

If the $10k wager from their PlayStation Face Off is real, all the practice will be worth it. However, mastering a Daigo parry alone won’t secure the win—Mena will need to learn far more to overcome JWong’s decades of experience.

Despite nearing 40, Justin is still winning global tournaments, like TGU 2024, where he took first place in Third Strike. Mena may be dominant in Street Fighter 6, but Third Strike is an entirely different challenge.
