Fede Vidal Reflects on Spain’s World Cup Elimination Against Venezuela

Spanish futsal coach Fede Vidal expressed his disappointment following the 1-2 loss and elimination against Venezuela in the Round of 16 at the World Cup in Uzbekistan. He apologized to the fans, taking responsibility for the outcome. “We had different expectations, and I want to apologize to the fans and take responsibility during this difficult moment after being knocked out of a World Cup where we had high hopes,” he said in an interview with the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Vidal also thanked his players for their hard work since the training camp, which began on July 25, including friendly matches and the World Cup itself. “They have put in an enormous amount of effort throughout the preparation and the matches, despite not having luck at key moments. We need to reflect deeply and know that the players will lead the team to the top again in the future,” he added.

Regarding the match against Venezuela, he commented, “We knew it would be an intense game, but we lacked the necessary luck in attack. Venezuela was more effective at key moments. That’s sports—we have to accept defeat and the elimination.”
