Palma Futsal Secures Charuto as New Star Signing for 2025 Season

Palma Futsal has secured its star signing. The Balearic team is finalizing the details of Charles Henrique Ferreira da Silva’s arrival, known as Charuto, from January. The news was first reported by Gabriel Izcue (Fútbol Mallorca) and has been confirmed that the general manager of Palma, José Tirado, will finalize the transfer agreement with Magnus Futsal. Palma’s opponent in the Intercontinental Cup, to be held in Son Moix on November 2nd.

Earlier in the summer, Palma Futsal signed Thierry Henrique Petraça, a promising Brazilian left-winger from Jaragua, as a future investment. But the true replacement for Cleber da Souza (Al Qadsiah) will arrive with the opening of the winter transfer window, alongside Duduzinho (Pato Futsal). Coach Antonio Vadillo’s priority was a right-footed pivot, and after Mati Rosa declined to leave Jaén Paraíso Interior, Tirado activated the Charuto option. At 31, Charuto is an international player, right-footed, and one of the top scorers in Brazil. This is a significant move for the islanders.

the deal

The deal was expedited due to interest from Indonesia’s Bintang Timur Surabaya, whose coach, Diego Rios, wanted Charuto as a replacement for Dyeguinho, who returned to Joinville (Brazil). Palma Futsal, not wanting to take any risks, determined that the Magnus pivot was the right player to replace Cleber. The decision to shift Fabinho to the wing, where they already have Ernesto and Maia, along with adding a third offensive option alongside Bruno Gomes and Jesus Gordillo, were key factors in the operation.

Charuto joined Real Betis in June 2021, but personal issues delayed his arrival. His long-awaited move to the Spanish First Division will take place in 2025, making him the star signing for the two-time UEFA Champions League winners. Before that, he will face Palma Futsal in the Intercontinental Cup final with his current team, Magnus, the reigning Libertadores Cup champions. Charuto’s accolades with Sao Paulo include a National League title, a Cup, a Taça, and a Super Cup.

Palma Futsal

Charuto is a strategic addition for Palma Futsal, which will now focus on renewing Jesús Gordillo’s contract. The first talks before the World Cup were unsuccessful. From January 2025, Gordillo will be able to sign with any club for free, as his contract expires on June 30. Despite being just 23, the left-footed pivot has already attracted interest from Movistar Inter and ElPozo Murcia Costa Calida, and more top Spanish and European clubs are expected to show interest.

The 12th edition of the Ciutat de Palma-Memorial Miquel Jaume futsal tournament will feature four of the last six UEFA Futsal Champions League winners. Host Illes Balears Palma Futsal, champions for the past two years, will face Sporting de Portugal. Winners in 2021 and 2019 and participants in seven of the last eight Final Fours. This match will be a repeat of last year’s European final, but this time the event will take place at the Palau Municipal d’Esports de Son Moix on Saturday, October 5th, at noon.
