Palma Futsal has already secured a replacement for Cleber de Souza. The Balearic team has finalized the signing of Thierry Henrique Petraça. The 19-year-old Brazilian left-winger, who has won the UEFA Futsal Champions League twice, was acquired after Palma Futsal paid his release clause from Jaraguá. With the transfer deadline for the First Division ending on Friday, September 13, Palma Futsal acted swiftly to strengthen the team following the loss of one of its stars to Saudi futsal. Thierry, who was under contract until 2025, is seen as a promising investment by general director José Tirado.
Born in Lages, Santa Catarina, Thierry joined Jaraguá at age 12 and quickly rose through the ranks. Promoted to the first team in 2023, he has become one of the brightest talents in Brazilian futsal. Despite his youth, he has played the second-most matches for his team in 2024, with 42 appearances, 6 goals, and 8 assists. Already a part of Brazil’s youth national teams, he had drawn interest from top Brazilian clubs like Magnus, Corinthians, and Atlântico, but Palma Futsal moved quickly, just as they did with Duduzinho from Pato, securing his transfer for a relatively low fee.
Palma Futsal
The last 10 days have been particularly busy for Palma Futsal, with numerous offers landing on José Tirado’s desk. Although the club pursued Jaén Paraíso Interior’s Mati Rosa, the pivot declined their offer. Palma also dismissed other high-cost alternatives to maintain its salary cap and avoid financial strain. True to their strategy of buying young and selling high, Palma opted to sign Thierry, believing his future transfer value will provide a strong return.
Thierry becomes the fourth left-winger in the squad alongside Mario Rivillos, David Peña, and Leandro Machado. Machado is expected to take on more of a defensive role to compensate for Cleber’s absence on the right, where Maia is expected to shine this season. Coach Antonio Vadillo will aim to balance the team with these adjustments.
Additionally, Palma Futsal still intends to pursue a high-profile signing during the winter transfer window, without needing to break the bank. With the Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan approaching, Palma Futsal is scouting top international talent.
Meanwhile, Saudi futsal continues to flex its financial muscle, having recently paid €200,000 for Cleber and now €135,000 for Chape, a left-footed winger from Atlântico and top scorer in Brazil. They have also secured international player Bruno Rafael, who was a runner-up in Russia’s Super League with MFC Ukhta.
