CBLOL 2024: Vivo Keyd Stars Rise, paiN Gaming Reclaims Glory, and Baiano Boosts Viewership

The 2024 CBLOL season has proven to be the most thrilling yet in the Brazilian League of Legends scene. Three top-tier esports organizations battled closely, and new rules allowing community broadcasters enabled Brazilian fans to experience the competition through their favorite content creators. It’s no surprise that League of Legends remains one of the fastest-growing esports in Brazil.

In 2024, Vivo Keyd Stars emerged as a top contender, building a new roster and making mid-season coaching changes. They finished second in Split 2, behind champions paiN Gaming, while the historically dominant LOUD fell to fourth place.

this season

This season’s mix of exciting gameplay and community co-casters made CBLOL Split 2 2024 the second-most popular tournament in the last three years, peaking at 331.7K viewers during the grand final, slightly surpassing the previous year’s Split 2 peak viewership.

Over the season’s 140 hours, Split 2 amassed 18.72 million hours watched, ranking as the third-most-watched CBLOL event ever. This success was driven largely by community caster Baiano, whose broadcasts attracted a significant audience, particularly during the final where his streams saw over 60K concurrent viewers.

The grand final saw paiN Gaming face off against Vivo Keyd Stars, with paiN taking a 3-1 victory. Keyd Stars’ strong performance throughout the season made them a fan favorite, although a final featuring LOUD could have drawn even higher viewership.

Baiano’s influence on viewership extended beyond the top-level CBLOL. His coverage of the CBLOL Academy, where he supports his own team, Ilha das Lendas, helped boost viewership, marking an all-time peak for the circuit.

Overall

Overall, community casters have been pivotal in improving the CBLOL’s viewership in 2024, compared to 2023 when broadcasts were restricted to official channels. Baiano’s return as a community caster has significantly elevated the league’s audience numbers.

Although Split 2 of 2024 didn’t surpass the viewership peaks of the first split, it still saw a notable rise in engagement compared to previous years. CBLOL has now become the third-most popular regional League of Legends circuit, behind the LCK and LEC, outperforming the VCS and the declining LCS.

PaiN Gaming’s long-awaited victory, alongside Vivo Keyd Stars’ new roster, made Split 2 one of the most exciting CBLOL seasons ever. With League of Legends in Brazil continuing to grow, both at the top level and in its second-tier circuit, all eyes are now on how the scene will perform in the upcoming pan-Americas circuit.
