The World Cup in Uzbekistan is quickly approaching, and Portugal continues its preparations for the tournament. Led by Jorge Braz, the team trained this Saturday at Pavilhão Leões Porto Salvo in Oeiras, with Lucio Rocha sharing his thoughts with the Federation’s media.
“These are very important days for me. I’m thrilled to have the chance to represent Portugal in a World Cup. It’s an honor to be part of such an incredible group of players and coaches. My focus is on giving my all to contribute to the team, which is what matters most. This year has been a dream come true. Just a year ago, I was part of the team that won the European Futsal Under-19 Championship, and now I’ve been called up to the National AA Team for the World Cup. I worked hard to earn the coach’s trust, and I’m grateful to be here,” said the winger, who is making his World Cup debut.
The young Benfica player also praised the Portuguese squad’s work ethic: “I feel the team is in great shape. We’re happy and confident. Preparation has been challenging, but we know it’s essential to reach our best form for the World Cup. We’re like a family here, supporting each other all the time. Until the tournament starts, our focus is on improving every day and refining the details for what lies ahead.”
Portugal’s first World Cup match will be against Panama on September 16th.
