Seventy-three days after Pescados Ruben Burela secured their sixth league title, equaling Femesala Elche and Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero at the top of the national rankings, Julio Delgado’s team is set to begin their title defense tomorrow. They will face Laínco Rubí, a recently promoted team, on their home court.
In an interview with the Federation’s official media, Delgado expressed that her team remains as motivated as ever: “Our goals are the same as every year — to compete for titles and, most importantly, to enjoy the journey. Our true strength lies in enjoying the learning process in every training session.”
Delgado also emphasized the growing competitiveness of the Primera Iberdrola: “The league has made significant strides. Teams are much more prepared, and the competition is getting tougher. If you let your guard down even slightly, any team can beat you.”
All the teams have worked to strengthen their rosters, with over 100 player transfers this season. Among them is Joan Linares, now leading Futsi Atlético Navalcarnero. The men’s world champion in Guatemala sees this as a major challenge. “Being at a club with this history means aiming for the highest,” said the Barcelona native, adding that he is ready to do so with “a balanced and high-quality squad.”
