Spain’s Final Preparations for the Futsal World Cup in Tajikistan

Today marks a crucial day for the Futsal World Cup, as FIFA requires the 24 participating national teams to submit their official rosters. These player lists can be adjusted up until 24 hours before each team’s first match.

For Fede Vidal and his coaching staff, last night was undoubtedly challenging. They had to consider not only the physical condition of each of the 16 international players but also the tactical roles each could play throughout the tournament.

One of the primary concerns for the national team is whether Sergio Lozano will make the final roster. His limited participation in the team’s preparation has raised alarms. However, his determination to compete and his willingness to sacrifice might keep him in contention until the very last moment before Fede Vidal announces the final 14-player list.

Kohki Olimp Pavilion in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, where the national team held another double training session yesterday, will host Spain’s final two friendlies before their World Cup opener on the 15th against Kazakhstan. The first match, scheduled for Friday at 17:00 against the host nation. A standout in the last Asian Cup, will be an excellent test for Vidal’s team. The second match, on Saturday at 17:00 against the Netherlands, will be the final preparation before the World Cup kicks off.

David González, the national team’s fitness coach, has given insight into the behind-the-scenes work. He uses the ‘Catapult’ system with player number ’17’ to monitor the players’ workload, analyzing distances, loads, and heart rates both in real-time and afterward. “When a player deviates from their profile, it’s a warning,” González explains.
