Raúl Jiménez Joins Anderlecht: Real Betis’ Key Transfers and New Season Plans

Real Betis and Anderlecht have reached an agreement for the transfer of Raúl Jiménez. The left-footed winger from Seville (born 03-10-1998) was a highly sought-after player in the green-and-white squad. The Belgian champions have paid a significant amount to finalize the deal with the Spanish club. Trained in the youth academy and a full international, Raúl Jiménez had offers from First Division clubs. But with one year left on his contract, Real Betis hoped he would lead their project in the Second Division and even considered negotiating a contract extension. However, Raúl Jiménez chose to accept Anderlecht’s offer and will now play in the UEFA Futsal Champions League. Taking on the challenge of replacing Croatian Franco Jelovcic.

Anderlecht frequently looks to the Spanish market for reinforcements, and this season they have already signed Lucas Perin. Another target was the Brazilian winger Pulinho from Córdoba World Heritage Site, but no agreement was reached, and Anderlecht took advantage of Real Betis’ relegation to secure Raúl Jiménez.

In less than a week, Real Betis has completed three significant player sales. Including negotiations with Palma Futsal for the transfer of Manuel Piqueras and the agreement with Albali Valdepeñas Vineyard for pivot Jorge Carrasco. These moves, along with the departures of Lemine (Jaén Paraíso Interior), Ivi (Family Cash Alzira), Roger Serrano, Juan Molina, and Argentine Lucas Diaz, mark a total of eight player exits. Seven players remain with the team. Which was relegated to the Second Division: Captain Lin (renewed until 2026), goalkeepers Raúl Sánchez and Starna, Rafa Lopez, and youth players Christian Povea, Pablo Muñoz, and Pablo Otero.

In the technical area

In the technical area, André Brocanello has been confirmed as the new coach to lead Real Betis in the Second Division. The Brazilian coach, who played for several teams in the 90s, eventually settled in Seville. He managed Jimbee in the First Division before becoming the coordinator of Cartagena’s youth teams. In July 2020, he took over at Prodexim Kherson in Ukraine and later returned to Spain, signing his new contract with Real Betis last Monday. Ramon Martinez will serve as the assistant coach while also directing the lower categories.

Real Betis’ head of sections, José Manuel Guisado, ‘Mané’, has directed the formation of a squad aimed at securing promotion. The club’s sporting director, Rubén Cornejo, is working to finalize seven signings (one defender, four wingers, and two pivots) to compete in the Spanish Super Cup and position the team as the top contender in the Second Division.
