The men’s national team is currently in Viseu as they continue their preparations for the 2024 World Cup. On Monday, the team held another training session, with winger Kutchy serving as the spokesperson.
“We’re making good progress. Our goal is to maintain this momentum. Training has been tough, but we know it will pay off. We’ll face challenges at the World Cup, and now is the time to prepare ourselves both physically and mentally,” he told the FPF.
“The team is highly motivated and eager to be in top form for the World Cup. Our focus is solely on our daily training,” he added.
Kutchy also commented on the variety of opponents in their preparation matches: “This diversity is very beneficial, as it allows us to test and refine our play against different styles. These seven games will help us become a more well-rounded team. At the World Cup, we’ll face teams from various continents, and now is the time to tackle these challenges.”
In Viseu, at the Pavilhão Cidade de Viseu, Jorge Braz’s team is set to play three preparation matches: against Cuba (Thursday, 6:00 p.m.), Costa Rica (Friday, 6:00 p.m.), and Ukraine (Sunday, 6:00 p.m.). Portugal has already played two other preparation matches, defeating Uzbekistan 4-1 and Angola 5-1.
Portugal is placed in Group E for the 2024 World Cup, alongside Tajikistan, Panama, and Morocco. The tournament begins on September 14th.
