On June 6th, Movistar Inter and Brazilian pivot Rafael Nogueira da Silva, known as Fits, reached an agreement in principle to terminate the final year of his contract with the Madrid club. Sources indicate that this decision is due to a “last-minute budget adjustment.” Movistar Inter had initially paid RSC Anderlecht €40,000 for Fits in December 2022. Eighteen months later, the choice to release him and grant a free transfer has sparked significant attention and concern among new signings, as Fits, who scored 15 goals in 32 league games, was the only pivot in the squad.
terminated contract
On July 1, Movistar Inter also terminated the contract of Serbian winger Jovan Lazarevic, who has received offers from Spain and Russia (Ukhta). Fits, currently staying in Lisbon, is expected to finalize his dismissal next week. He has returned to Madrid to sign his release and determine his next steps. Despite receiving numerous offers, Fits considered fulfilling the remaining year of his contract until an agreement was reached between his lawyers and those of the club.
Fits has instructed his representative, Pepe Arraes of New Futsal, to prioritize offers from Spain. Both Barça and Illes Balears Palma Futsal are keen on signing the Brazilian pivot, who will be available on a free transfer. Barça’s team manager, Jordi Torras, is exploring ways to incorporate Fits despite financial constraints and a full roster. The Balearic team’s general manager, José Tirado, is also keen, noting Fits’ interest in living in Palma and playing for the two-time UEFA Futsal Champions League champions.
Movistar Inter, after three titleless seasons and a campaign without a final, is restructuring to return to winning ways. The club renewed coach Alberto Riquer and aims to build a competitive squad with seven new signings. Only eight players from last season remain, and there have been seven departures, including Humberto, Ruby, Sepe, Finnish closer Korpela, and Japanese player Kaito Yamada. The exits of Fits and Lazarevic have cast a shadow over the 2024-25 project, which features new stars Chaguinha and Lucao. The club also brought in Javi Minguez, Bebe, and three young left-wingers: Carlos Bartolome and youth players Eloy de Pablos and Sergio Barona.
