Karmine Corp fans are facing criticism from League streamer Marc Robert ‘Caedrel’ Lamont for their plans to boo T1 and Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok at the upcoming Red Bull League Of Its Own event.
Announced on July 17, this pre-season tournament in Paris will feature rare matchups, including T1 vs. Karmine Corp.
KCorp boasts a passionate French fanbase, primarily due to its creator-owners Kamel ‘Kameto’ Kebir and Zouhair ‘Kotei’ Darji. On social media, KCorp fans expressed excitement about supporting their team at home and their eagerness to express disdain for rival teams.
X/Twitter Controversy
One popular post on X/Twitter read, “Eh KarmineCorp you have only one job, and that is to make sure that everyone in the community knows about the event and the opening of the ticket office. I don’t want a single enjoyer or T1 sucker in the public,” according to a machine translation. Another fan stated, “We will be able to boot Faker with 15,000 people will do nothing.”
Former LEC caster and League pro Caedrel condemned the enthusiasm for booing the legendary Faker, calling the fans’ posts “disgusting.” On July 18, he said on Twitch, “Listen if T1 rock up to this Red Bull League Of Its Own and all the KCorp fans boo Faker I think KCorp should be kicked from LEC and f banned.”
KCorp fans reacted negatively to Caedrel’s comments, claiming their remarks were mostly in jest, while some defended their right to boo opposing teams.
Caedrel stood firm.
Criticizing some KCorp fans for their extreme behavior. Stating on X, “I’m sick of these KC ultra fans tweeting or dming the most disgusting things to players who leave their organization. Casters who comment badly about the team. Streamers who give their opinions or joke around, and even now one of the most inspirational figures in the game who is nothing but a role model to everyone else. It’s gotten to the point where people are actually afraid to be honest about KC and that’s the sad reality.”
Last year, KCorp fans also booed Faker at the Red Bull pre-season event in Berlin. An action condemned by the org’s owner, Kameto, who noted that only a few fans participated.
With the event set in France, KCorp is expected to have a significant presence. This will be the second opportunity for their fanbase to see the League team compete against strong international opponents, as the recently appointed LEC franchise has yet to qualify for major Riot Games tournaments.
