The theory that the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) is scripted gained traction on July 13. When a graphic from the previous day predicted an unexpected outcome between Evil Geniuses and MIBR.

VCT Americas concluded its second split of 2024 with the final five matches to determine playoff seeding.

Both Evil Geniuses and MIBR were already out of the playoffs and Champions contention when they faced off on July 13, leaving nothing at stake for either team.

Before the match, an image circulated on Reddit. Showing a graphic from a VCT viewer that displayed MIBR beating Evil Geniuses 2-0, even though the match was scheduled for the next day.

The match seemed like an easy win for Evil Geniuses, as MIBR hadn’t won a single game in 2024 before this. The VCT Americas analyst desk unanimously predicted an Evil Geniuses victory, making the leaked graphic even more puzzling.

Some Reddit users suspected the image was fake or from a previous year, but it featured Evil Geniuses’ recent return to their original logo, proving it was current.

When MIBR secured their first win, viewers revisited the original thread to discuss the theory of the game being scripted. One viewer commented, “Now that this actually happened, it doesn’t mean anything, but the fact that this was leaked could just mean the game was scripted to save face for MIBR.”

If MIBR had lost, as analysts predicted, they would have been the only team in VCT to lose all 10 matches. However, with their win, they tied with VCT Pacific’s Bleed for the worst team of the year, both finishing 1-9.
