Veteran CDL pro Clayster got into a heated argument with Scrap after their match at CDL Major 4, leading to Clayster making some remarks he later had to apologize for.
Call of Duty has always been a game known for its trash talk, and this intensity has been evident in the CDL since its inception.
Despite the close individual matches between the Atlanta Ravens and Toronto Ultra, the series itself was one-sided, with the Ravens failing to win a single map. This led to a confrontation between Toronto Ultra’s Scrap and Clayster.
The two exchanged insults, but many felt Clayster crossed the line.
Scrap called Clayster “dogsh*t” and suggested he should retire, to which Clayster responded, “kill yourself.”
“IRL ‘kys’ is crazy,” commented one Twitter user.
“That trash talk was brutal,” said another.
Clayster quickly apologized after leaving the stage, explaining that he was “caught up in the moment.”
“Emotions got the better of me, never an excuse but my bad for saying what I said. Didn’t mean it, just caught up in the moment, and didn’t mean to minimize the severity of something so serious. Trash talking is one thing but there’s crossing a line so I wanted to say sorry.”
Scrap later addressed the incident in an interview with Ace Abedi, stating that he and Clayster are still on good terms. He understood Clayster’s frustration, given that his CDL run had ended.
“It’s never personal with me. I like Clay, Clay’s a good person. It’s definitely a harsh situation for him, season’s over. It is what it is. In the moment, a little trash talk, he didn’t wanna fist bump me but… I’m sure we’ll talk.”
