Sporting CP Celebrates Fourth Consecutive Liga Placard Win

After another triumphant season of national futsal, Sporting CP has clinched the Liga Placard title for the fourth consecutive time. The team, led by Nuno Dias, also secured the League Cup, and visited the Sporting Museum to present their 23/24 trophies.

In a symbolic ceremony attended by Frederico Varandas, the squad, staff, and technical team were represented by three pillars of their success: Nuno Dias, João Matos, and Alex Merlin, who shared their reflections and ambitions for the future.

Nuno Dias on the Season

Nuno Dias expressed his satisfaction not only with the achievement but also with the manner in which it was achieved. “Coming here is always synonymous with titles and it is a great joy to be here,” he said. Dias emphasized that the team is already looking ahead, aiming for a fifth consecutive title, and more. “At Sporting CP, the dynamic of victory accompanies us, and we pursue it with maximum demands and ambition,” he added.

End of Cycle?

Addressing rumors about the end of their cycle, Dias remarked, “If we end the cycle like this every year, that’s fine with me. It’s a sign we continue to deliver trophies. This team still has a lot to give, with a blend of youth and experience.”

Youth Team Successes

Dias also highlighted the success of Sporting’s youth development, noting, “Our formation works well, shown by the players from our youth teams consistently reaching the senior squad and becoming champions.”

João Matos on Duty Accomplished

João Matos reflected on the season, stating, “We wanted more, but a stage closes. With the ‘Tetra’ and the League Cup over, it’s time to recharge and plan for future achievements. We’re closer to ‘Penta’ than any other team.”

Ambitions for the Future

Matos reiterated their continuous ambition, “We’re not satisfied with past victories. Our focus next season is to work game by game, aiming to beat all opponents every weekend.”

Alex Merlin on Future Goals

Alex Merlin shared his joy and satisfaction with the team’s fourth consecutive title. “Winning four consecutive titles is very difficult. We’ll rest during the holidays and return ready for the next season’s challenges, aiming for the fifth championship.”

Returning to the Museum

Merlin reflected on the importance of playing for Sporting CP, saying, “Winning the title is the ultimate result. I feel privileged to have been part of this team for almost a decade, with numerous achievements. Our ambition is to continue winning.”

With these reflections and future goals, Sporting CP looks forward to another successful season, driven by their unyielding ambition and commitment to victory.
