Free Fire World Series 2024: Record-Breaking Viewership and Exciting New Changes

With an eye on the debuting mid-year global tournament, the spring splits of the Free Fire World Series have concluded. As expected, Southeast Asia and Brazil attracted the most viewers, with Southeast Asia becoming the series’ most popular non-global event.

Following a solid 2023 that included some roadmap adjustments and saw the game regain its footing in the competitive battle royale market. Garena decided to further shake things up and return to its roots this year. The revamped season brought back the FFWS model and introduced a mid-season highlight: the lucrative Esports World Cup 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Among the three main regions in this iconic Free Fire event, Southeast Asia was the most successful, with the Spring 2024 edition reaching 310.1K Peak Viewers. This record figure made it the most popular entry in the series outside of global tournaments. Especially since regional FFWS leagues were only introduced this year.

With 8M Hours Watched and an Average of 91.6K Viewers, it became the eighth most-watched non-global competition. This Free Fire event now holds the top spot by watch time in the FFWS, excluding global tournaments.

Free Fire World Series – Brazil 2024 Split 1

Viewership Stats and Most Popular Games
The first split of the Brazilian league maintained its reputation, with numbers confirming the country’s prominence in the Free Fire competitive ecosystem. Known for its large fan base, Brazil often hosts some of the game’s most popular regional events.

The Free Fire World Series – Brazil 2024 Split 1 recorded 82.9K Peak Viewers, 3.3M Hours Watched, and an Average of 42.2K Viewers over 79 hours of airtime. This placed it third by peak concurrent viewers and second by watch time among non-global FFWS tournaments, just behind the Southeast Asia entry.

It’s worth noting that the Free Fire World Series – Brazil 2024 is split into two parts. First part, discussed above, saw the top three teams from Phase One of the Group Stage (April 20 to June 10) qualify for the Esports World Cup 2024, held from July 10 to July 14. The remainder of the competition continues as Split 2, with Phase 2 of the Group Stage resuming on July 27. Top-ranked team here will advance to the Free Fire World Series – Global Finals 2024, while the top 12 teams will secure spots in the Grand Finals. The top two teams at the end will join the pool stage leader in the season-ending finale.

Comparing the Viewership Stats of the Three Main FFWS Regional Leagues
Lastly, the Free Fire World Series – Latin America 2024 Split 1 did not post significant numbers, consistent with its usual contributions. However, it featured an all-Mexico podium, which is promising for the EWC 2024, as Spanish-speaking audiences are typically very enthusiastic, potentially boosting viewership for future tournaments.

Compared to similar regional tournaments from 2023, these leagues saw increased viewership numbers. Despite a shorter and more compact competition in the Latin America region, audience reach was lower, though there’s still time for fans to adapt to the changes and show more support in the second split or other related events.

This year is crucial for Free Fire, with its inclusion in the Esports World Cup enhancing its reputation as a leading competitive mobile game. With PUBG Mobile also participating in this cross-event extravaganza, there’s pressure for Free Fire to deliver. Garena hopes its fans, especially from South Asia and Brazil, will make the game’s debut in Saudi Arabia a memorable one.
