Ence Marín’s Celebration Marred by Offensive Chants

Ence Marín celebrated their stay in the First Iberdrola Futsal, but the celebration was marred by offensive chants directed at the relegated Viaxes Amarelle team. Following their victory over Ourense Ontime and Viaxes Amarelle’s loss to Pescados Rubén Burela, Ence Marín’s players and fans, known as ‘Frente Marinense,’ sang derogatory songs that embarrassed Spanish futsal.

A video of these chants, particularly the refrain “Jump, jump, jump, little kangaroo, and screw the Amarelle girls,” went viral. Prompting Ence Marín to issue an apology. The club stated that the chants do not represent their values and condemned the behavior.

Several players, including goalkeeper Patri Arruti and captain Jessica Jineth ‘Café,’ publicly apologized. They emphasized that the chants were disrespectful and out of place. The club announced disciplinary action to address the issue.

Additionally, throughout the match, the ‘Frente Marinense’ supporters also heckled their own coach, Ramiro Díaz. Who later apologized for the offensive chants and praised Viaxes Amarelle for their effort.

The rivalry between Ence Marín and Viaxes Amarelle intensified after a previous match on May 8, where a scheduling conflict and a request for player eligibility review added to the tensions. Despite the rivalry and unfortunate incidents, the focus now shifts to upcoming league title semi-finals and hopes for better sportsmanship in future games.
