With Spain positioned in Pot 1 for the upcoming 2024 World Cup draw, alongside other top teams like Brazil, Portugal, and Argentina.
Spain, under Javier Lozano’s coaching in 2000 and 2004, holds a notable futsal history, securing third place in the inaugural FIFA Futsal Ranking, trailing Brazil and Portugal. Iran and Argentina complete the top five, while Morocco’s swift ascent to sixth place highlights Africa’s growing presence. The rankings also reflect Russia’s standing despite political sanctions, and newcomers like France, set to debut in Uzbekistan’s World Cup.
Noteworthy rankings include New Zealand and Costa Rica as the highest-ranked nations in Oceania and CONCACAF respectively. Fede Vidal, Spain’s coach, emphasizes the increasing competitiveness across regions, setting the stage for an intense World Cup. Brazil’s women’s team, led by Amandinha, dominates the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Ranking, while Spain and Portugal trail closely behind. The stage is set for teams like Argentina, Colombia, and Japan to vie for positions in the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup.
