Nadeshot has come to the defense of his teammate, Ghosty, after the latter was accused of using drugs during Call of Duty League matches.
Matthew Haag, known online as ‘Nadeshot,’ is not only a former professional Call of Duty player but also the founder, co-owner, and CEO of 100 Thieves. Now, he is standing up for one of his team’s key players, Daniel ‘Ghosty’ Rothe, who joined the LA Thieves in September 2023.
The controversy erupted when Daunte ‘Sib’ Gray accused Ghosty of smoking weed before matches, prompting fans to seek Nadeshot’s response to the situation.
Reaching out to Nadeshot via X (formerly Twitter), user ‘karlruss17’ wrote, “Nadeshot, one of your players, Ghosty, is playing official CDL matches while high on weed.” Karl urged the 100 Thieves CEO to address the issue before it came to the attention of officials.
In response, Nadeshot expressed uncertainty about the accusation, stating, “I got no idea if he is, but that man has been slamming all year. I got half a mind to go smoke that chronic with him.” He then admonished Karl for his accusation, saying, “Nobody likes a narc, kick rocks pal.”
Nadeshot further showed his support for Ghosty by sharing a screenshot of his response, along with the message, “We’re smoking weed live on stream in solidarity with Ghosty.”
In the United States, cannabis is legal in 24 of 50 states for recreational use. Many praised Nadeshot for his response, with one person commenting, “This is what they mean by leading by example.” Another stated, “Performance enhancing? Nah, just vibe and chill.” A second user expressed pride in Ghosty.
However, not everyone agreed with Nadeshot’s stance. One user criticized streamers for setting a bad example for kids, while another questioned why esports isn’t taken more seriously despite such behavior.
