Doublelift Alleges Team Liquid’s GM Blocked His Inclusion in 2024 Roster

Doublelift alleges that Dodo, the current General Manager of Team Liquid, actively hindered his inclusion in the team during negotiations to secure both him and jojopyun on their 2024 roster. Doublelift’s status as a League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) legend is undeniable. The retirements of both him and Bjergsen marked the end of an era. With some of the last players from the LCS’ early days stepping down to pursue other endeavors.

However, it appears that Doublelift’s retirement wasn’t solely driven by his desire to exit the LCS. At one point, he expressed interest in joining Team Liquid. This sheds light on his abrupt shift from wanting to remain in the LCS for 2024 to ultimately deciding to leave the league a few months later.

In negotiations with Team Liquid, Doublelift claims that General Manager Dodo went to extremes. Even putting his job on the line to ensure Doublelift wouldn’t be part of the team’s 2024 roster.

DOUBLELIFT ACCUSES TEAM LIQUID OF “UNDERHANDED” MANAGEMENT

During his LCS costream on March 9, Doublelift made a veiled reference to an LCS team manager who allegedly lied to players. Prompted by chat goading him to share the story. Initially hesitant, he eventually decided to reveal the behind-the-scenes incident.

Doublelift mentioned that Steve, Team Liquid’s CEO, approached him to create an “Exodia” roster and personally selected jojopyun as his preferred mid laner. However, confusion arose when talking to Jojo, as Team Liquid seemed slow to approach the star mid laner.

Expressing his willingness to stay in the LCS only if on the “perfect” roster, Doublelift claimed that Team Liquid’s General Manager, Dodo, obstructed his inclusion in the roster. Dodo allegedly disclosed his intentions when talking to jojopyun, stating, “The only way that we would get Doublelift on the team is if I’m not on the team anymore. We’re not getting him. There’s no way.” Jojo, taken aback, found this revelation strange.

While the clip cuts off around this point, Doublelift continued. Stating that Dodo said, “‘If Doublelift joins this team, either I’m gonna have to quit my job or they’re gonna have to fire me.'” Despite approaching Team Liquid’s CEO, Steve, to address the situation, no changes were made according to Doublelift.

In an off-season apology, Dodo claimed his actions were “in the gist of the moment” and that he acted that way to “convince Jojo in the moment.” As of now, none of the implicated Team Liquid members have responded to Doublelift’s accusations.
